We made these trees today as we discussed the length of each piece. This was great practice for measuring and comparing! We also did several reindeer activities throughout the day. Students will be bringing home some reindeer sentences to practice reading tonight.

Tomorrow in math we will be completing a 'check my progress' page to help review our lessons so far on composing and decomposing numbers 4,5,6,&7. This afternoon, we welcomed some special visitors into our classroom from Belleville East High School. The high school students read the book A Giving Tree to us and talked about ways to share kindness and help others. They then helped us make a special Christmas tree craft to share with someone and brought our class a special cookie treat. Thank you to the Belleville East students for this special activity! Check out the Belleville News Democrat for some pictures from our afternoon! :) Today we read THE GINGERBREAD GIRL and compared it to our GINGERBREAD BOY story. We made a list of characters from each story and found that several characters were in both books! Be sure to ask you child about how each book ended. :)
In math we are working on composing and decomposing numbers 4 & 5. This new skill has been a little tricky, so we will keep practicing during math station time as well as throughout the chapter. This afternoon we worked on words that belong in the -ug word family and decorated Christmas trees. Tonight in your child's folder you will find a blue form from the office. Please fill this out and return tomorrow. Thank you! We will be going to PE class tomorrow, don't forget your tennis shoes. |
