Don't forget to keep practicing your name writing at home this week! :)
Today we learned about the letter Bb and learned a fun song about BENNY BEAR! We also worked on letter Aa and Bb handwriting and introduced SYLLABLES in words. We completed a quick cutting assessment where we cut out brown bears and this afternoon we made a fun BUS craft! For math today, we completed an 'Are You Ready?' page. This was good practice before we begin Chapter 1 which covers numbers 0-5.
Don't forget to keep practicing your name writing at home this week! :)

Welcome back to another week of Kindergarten! Today we began our reading series "Journeys". In your student's folder tonight you will find a paper with more information about our reading series, please let me know if you have any questions!
Please also take some time this week to work on your child's name writing at home. Everyone is bringing home a practice sheet tonight. *Don't forget to sign up for REMIND- our class code is @dbkgbc Please let me know if you need any help getting connected to our classroom! This is an EASY way to get reminders and communicate with me. *Follow our classroom on INSTAGRAM @andrews_kindergarten *I've added a "Calendar" tab to our website (under the MORE tab). I'll be putting important dates and events there to help keep everyone organized on what's coming up! We had a great day of Kindergarten on Friday! We worked with the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and played a name game as a class. Each student got a turn to recognize and spell their name as part of our poem. We also completed our first SOCIAL SKILLS lesson on taking turns. We read a short story about two cats-Tom and Tabby who needed help taking turns and then practiced taking turns and completed an individual drawing. Check out a few pictures below! This morning we learned our months of the year song- see if your child can sing it to you tonight. We then went through 'BOOTCAMP'! We went to several different stations around the school to help us remember the Whiteside 4 BE's - be safe, be caring, be responsible, be respectful and to help us remember the rules in different places around school- the restrooms, the office, hallways, bus lines, lunchroom, and recess. Our class did a GREAT job listening and received several compliments from other teachers for being good listeners and polite!! :)
Our class went to PE class today and met our PE teacher, Mrs. Korba! Don't forget to wear tennis shoes for our PE day each week- you can find the specials schedule on our blog-check at the top under the "SPECIALS SCHEDULE" tab! This afternoon we worked on our handwriting using dry erase markers! We practiced tracing lines, numbers, and letters. I also began our counting assessments. Today for specials we went to computer class and met our computer teacher, Mrs. Klosterman. We also completed a name writing assessment and began our letter assessments. We learned about some of our 'classroom tools'-scissors and glue bottles! We got a chance to practice both. We also learned a fun song to help us remember how to hold our scissors and practiced the saying 'just a dot, not a lot' when using our glue bottles. We discussed coloring a "3 star" paper and used our classroom chart to help us make some awesome apples to hang in our room. Check out some pictures below! **WE WILL BE GOING TO PE CLASS TOMORROW-PLEASE WEAR TENNIS SHOES** Check your students folder tonight for an interesting article about reading every night with your child!
