Here is our group work!
REMINDER: TOMORROW IS PICTURE RETAKE DAY!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.
See you Monday, December 1st!
Today we read the story I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie. This book helped up review our Thanksgiving feast foods, and we also talked about the beginning sounds of each of these foods. We then completed an activity on our Promethean board where we focused on one letter at a time (A-G) and found all the pictures that began with that specific sound. Students then worked in small groups to find pictures went with their group's letter. Each group was able to share their posters with the class. Students then completed a beginning sound activity on their own. Here is our group work! This afternoon we made 'I am thankful for....' turkeys. The boys and girls did a great job! Tomorrow we will wrap up our Thanksgiving activities.

This morning we practiced writing sentences and putting the words of our sentences in order. The students worked hard to make sure they started with a capital letter, had spaces between words, and ended their sentence with an end mark. We also took some of our sentences and worked in small groups to put our words in order. Mrs. Defranco and Brennan Bear came to visit our room room as well. We learned about the concepts 'whole' and 'part of'. We also discussed Thanksgiving feast foods! Today we introduced several more popcorn words: big, small, got, it. Tomorrow we will be learning the words; look, have, me, and must. Students should be able to identify all of the November popcorn words by the end of the month. Keep practicing at home! :) We took a break from our math books today to practice writing numbers 1-20 and put them in order before heading home for early dismissal day! Thank you to everyone who participated in Hat Day! The money collected will go towards our Character Ed program here at Whiteside. * Please remember to label all coats, hats, gloves, etc that your child brings to school* Thank you to everyone who donated to our food drive! We were able to collect enough items to reach our goal of 800, and even went beyond! Students will be enjoying a GYM JAM next Tuesday to celebrate their great character. Today the students were able to share their Tom Turkey's with the class. The turkeys will be displayed on our classroom bulletin board and inside of our room. The students enjoyed seeing everyone's disguises and creative ideas! Great job helping Tom Turkey hide! Reminder: Wednesday is Early Dismissal (2pm). Please return your Impact Aid forms as soon as possible. These are the blue forms that were sent home on Friday. Thank you! Happy Veteran's Day! I hope everyone enjoyed their day off to celebrate our veterans! Yesterday afternoon we had a wonderful assembly done by our second graders to honor our veterans. They also introduced our Character Ed. word of the month-Peace. Don't forget we are currently doing a canned food drive. Our school wide goal is to collect 800 canned goods for families in need. You may send in canned goods through this Friday. Thank you to the families who have already donated!
